Aculon® has a variety of surface modification technologies capable of functionalizing guitar strings to have improved longevity with no degredation of tone. Aculon's® guitar string coatings and treatments are highly repellent to oil and grime drastically improving both initial and longterm performance. In addition these coatings are ultra thin (nanoscale), optically clear, and quite durable. There are numerous performance advantages to having a guitar string functionalized with a high performance surface coating.
Repellent Guitar String Performance
Aculon® guitar string treatments are highly repellent to nearly all liquids, typically imparting inital water contact angles of around 120 degrees and oil contact angles around 90 degrees. After significant abrasion cycles, these contact angles are only slightly affected. This technology results in a stable hydrophobic and oleophobic coating that can be applied to nearly all metals.
