Aculon, Inc is pleased to announce the launch of their latest generation of PCB waterproofing technology, NanoProof 7.0 & 8.0. These new thixotropic formulations are not just new and improved, but game changing. The electronics industry can now achieve the IPX-7 (30 minutes submersion in water at a depth of 1 meter) and beyond levels of waterproofing that is so desired by mobile device manufacturers.
With the launch of Aculon NanoProof® treatments in 2015, a new category of electronics waterproofing technology was created – hydrophobic coatings that are applied inline and deliver the benefits of conformal coatings, but with the added benefit of push through connectivity. NanoProof treatments also eliminated prior requirements for costly capital investment, masking, and bottlenecking batch processes.
While the initial NanoProof solutions could outperform the existing options by creating IPX 5-6 levels of performance, achieving the goal of IPX 7 proved challenging. The new NanoProof 7.0 & 8.0, achieves IPX-7, allows for push through connectivity, and can be applied using standard equipment produced by manufacturers e.g. PVA and Nordson Asymtek.

NanoProof 7.0 & 8.0 provide extreme levels of water protection with an easy-to-apply liquid treatment.
“The availability of NanoProof 7.0 and 8.0 treatments for waterproofing electronics represents a significant opportunity for the electronics industry,” said Edward Hughes, CEO of Aculon. “The ability to easily and inexpensively waterproof electronics with an easy-to-apply material is critical as manufacturers push the boundaries of electronics waterproofing demanding lower costs, easier processes, and significantly more robust waterproofing performance.”
